What are cookies?
Cookies should be understood as computer data, in particular text files, which are stored in end-user equipment and designed for using websites. In general, those files contain the name of the website from which they originate, the period of their storage on the end-user hardware as well as a unique number.
How long is the data held in cookies stored for?
There are two types of cookies used: session cookies and persistent cookies. The former ones are temporary files that remain on the users’ hardware until they have logged out, left the website or deactivated the software (web browser). Persistent cookies remain on the users’ hardware for the time specified in the parameters of those cookies or until they have been removed there from by the user. Cookies used by partners of the website operator are subject to their own privacy policies.
